Welcome to the Newbury Hockey Festival Website! Our festival has been running since all the way back in 1981 and has grown and grown
and is still played on grass pitches at our old clubhouse in the centre of Newbury, so no travelling.
Most teams camp on site while the rest use guest houses and hotels within walking distance. Last year proved to be one of the most
successful festivals in a number of years, but we expect to eclipse it in 2010!
The emphasis is on fun, with the only prize being for the most sociable teams as judged by the umpires!
Hockey skills vary from international dribbling to 5th team fumbling but the grass pitches usually ‘level’ this out.
We welcome mens, ladies and mixed sides. Usual playing format is that teams have three games each day,
Saturday and Sunday, and we have a mini tournament on Monday morning for those players who can make it after Sunday night.
The cost is £65 per player. This may seem high but unlike other festivals this includes EVERYTHING:
Meet and greet on Friday evening with Karaoke at the clubhouse
A team jug voucher each day (including Friday night)
Hot lunches on Sat and Sun
Saturday disco at the clubhouse
Sunday evening meal
The amazing private fancy dress party on Sunday night at a local nightclub with surprise cabaret!!!!
Check out the Formats/Events tab for more info, or see the
programme from 2009
to see what to expect in 2010.
Last but not least, the theme for 2010 is A Space Odyssey (make of that what you will)!
